MEREDITH BLECHA-WELLS, Cellist
Teaching Philosophy
I embrace student centered learning that promotes inclusivity, a growth mindset, and teaches life-long learning skills that are applicable both inside and outside of the studio. Recognizing that teaching goes well beyond the nuts and bolts of learning an instrument, it is my goal to foster intrinsic motivation while developing mindful, inquisitive, autonomous, efficient, confident, and creative students that are prepared to pursue a career in tomorrow’s musical world.
One of my primary goals is to create an atmosphere that invites students to feel secure in the learning process. Students that feel at ease are more open to absorbing new ideas, engaging in the learning process, and are more willing to take risks in the name of improvement. To this end, I promote a non-judgmental approach in lessons, studio class, and practice.
